El 7 de Julio de 2007 tuvo lugar en sala LAi un encuentro de arte íntimo con MICHAEL CHIA con motivo de la presentación de su serie fotográfica DREAMS IN DREAMLAND. El artista departió amigablemente con los asistentes atendiendo todo tipo de consultas, dudas y sugerencias relacionadas con su obra, su modo de trabajar y concebir la fotografía, además de compartir las deliciosas viandas gentilmente elaboradas y/o aportadas por los asistentes al petit party salalai que acogió el inolvidable evento.

" My pictures are about street photogrpahy but presented in an abstract form. This to let the viewer free interpretation of what I have photographed. I want the viewer to participate in my photographs instead of me telling them what the image is about ."

"I still shoot using films and in the darkroom using traditional methods. Whatever I cannot produce in the darkroom, or with film, I do not reproduce using digital. The photographs were taken digitally. But my work is one shot, one image and no manipulation in photoshop. Photoshop is used to post-proccess my images (colour balance & adjustment, contrast). But whatever effects you see on my photographs were taken "live" - at the time I press the shutter button. I could have done the same using films"
